Heica for macOS

Last updated: 4 September 2026

This policy describes what Heica ("the App"), published by Metromedya ("we"), does with your information. The short version: your photos stay on your Mac.

Your photos

Heica reads the HEIC files you drop on it and writes the JPGs you ask for. All of that happens on your Mac, using your Mac's own processor. Photos are never uploaded, never sent to a server of ours, and never shared with anyone. The metadata inside a photo, including location data, is copied into the JPG and goes nowhere else.

What we collect

Nothing. There are no accounts, no sign in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We do not build a profile of you and we have no way to identify you.

Files and permissions

Sandbox

Heica runs in the macOS App Sandbox. It can read the files and folders you drop on the window or choose in a dialog, and it can write into the destination folder you choose for each conversion. It has no access to anything else on your Mac.

Settings

Your preferences, such as the default quality and whether the Finder opens after converting, are stored on your Mac in the App's own settings file. They never leave it.

The one network request

The Other Apps tab in Settings loads a list of our other apps, with their icons, from metromedya.com. So that the list can be filtered for your system, that request carries a random identifier the App created on first launch, the App's own bundle identifier and version, your macOS version and your language setting. It carries nothing about you, your Mac's identity or your photos. If you never open that tab, the App makes no network request at all.

Children

Heica is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the revised policy.
