How do I start using NetTop?
Launch NetTop from Applications. It appears in your menu bar and shows your live upload and download speed right away. There is no Dock window to open; everything starts from the menu bar icon. You can enable Launch at Login so NetTop is always ready.
How do I run a speed test?
Click the NetTop menu bar item and start a speed test. NetTop measures your download speed, upload speed, and ping, then shows the result. You can run a test on demand any time.
Can NetTop run speed tests automatically?
Yes. You can schedule speed tests to run automatically in the background at an interval you choose. NetTop keeps a history of those results so you can see how your connection performs over time. The history is stored locally on your Mac.
How do I see which app is using my bandwidth?
Click the menu bar icon to open the panel. NetTop lists the processes using your connection with their live upload and download speeds and app icons, so you can spot what is consuming your bandwidth in seconds.
What do the connection details show?
The connection panel shows details such as your IP address, Wi-Fi, and latency. Click a value to copy it. NetTop can also alert you the moment your internet connection drops.
Can I change how NetTop looks in the menu bar?
Yes. In settings you can choose your speed unit, update interval, number of decimals, and the menu bar style (text or an animated icon). You can also detach a floating window that snaps to any corner of your screen.
Does NetTop collect any of my data?
No. NetTop runs entirely on your Mac and does not collect, send, or share any data. Your network activity and speed test results stay on your device. See our Privacy Policy for details.

NetTop supports macOS 10.14 (Mojave) and later. It is a fast, lightweight, fully native macOS app.
